Sunset and Wildflowers Maternity Session

Maternity photography is a beautiful way to document a special time in a family’s journey. Whether it’s your first or fifth child, it’s a time of excitement, anticipation and change. As a Maryland maternity photographer, I always love hearing the story behind the family that I have the privilege of working with.

I am absolutely in love with this couple’s story. They have known each other since the fifth grade! How sweet is that; it just pulls at the heart strings! They were married a few years ago and are very excited to start their journey as new parents. We planned to have this session at sunset to take advantage of the gorgeous light sunsets can bring. We were also excited that the hot summer weather had brought wildflowers that would be a gorgeous backdrop for the session. Being that it’s the middle of July, we were dealing with a series of hot days and potential rain showers.

On the day of the session, there was a small chance of rain, but we were hopeful that it would stay away. As we arrived on location, light showers began falling. We briefly talked about postponing the session, but ultimately decided to work through the rain. After all, the forecast said it was just a passing shower. Although it turned out to be more than a shower, we still managed to stay dry. I’m so glad we stayed because once the rain stopped, we were rewarded with such a gorgeous sky!

During the session I learned that it rained on their wedding day, the day he proposed and the day of their wedding shower!! So of course it rained on the day of their maternity session. They say rain brings good luck when it falls on important days. In this case, it brought one of the most gorgeous skies and a beautiful ending to a gorgeous session.

I would love to work with you and your family, to capture precious moments in time. If you are interested in a maternity session, contact me today!
