5 Ways to Cherish Your Family Photographs

In this digital world, it’s so important to make sure your favorite images don’t remain on your devices. So much effort goes into planning your family’s session. You did your research, found a photographer you love, booked a family photography session and got your family ready to go. During your session you have a great time, have some laughs and make new memories. You love your images and you smile every time you look at them. But why leave those images buried on your device? Images weren't meant to be lost in your devices, they are meant to be printed and enjoyed!

Here are some of my favorite way for you to cherish your family photographs.

1. Heirloom Photo Albums

Heirloom albums are the perfect way to preserve your images and enjoy them for generations. Think about the feeling you get when you curl up on a couch with your photo album and your loved ones to flip through the album together. It’s a very different feeling from going through them on your computer or swiping through them on your phone. A photo album is an effortless way to re-live your memories. It brings your family together again, every time you look through it together.

2. Canvas Wall Art

One of my favorite ways to display photos is to have them printed on a canvas. A canvas turns a photograph into a gorgeous piece of artwork that brings your memories to life. You can either create a collection of smaller canvases that together tell a story or you can have one large canvas that is the room’s statement piece. What I really love about canvases is how soft and inviting they can be and how they can turn a simple portrait into a work of art.

3. Acrylic or Metal Prints

Another favorite for displaying your photographs are acrylic and metal prints. Acrylic and metal prints are a more modern addition to your home decor. With acrylic, your image is printed on high quality paper and then mounted between two pieces of acrylic. Metal prints are high definition pieces of art that have your images directly on them. Both options are a more modern and sleek option for your photographs and will definitely be conversation starters.

4. Framed Prints

Framed prints are a timeless and classic option for enjoying your photographs. You can get creative with framed prints by choosing frames that fit into your home’s decor. Framed prints can go on your walls, table tops or mantles. However you display your framed prints, they are a great way to enjoy your family photographs for years to come.

5. Gift Prints

Gift prints are smaller prints (usually 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10). They make for perfect gifts to share with grandparents and extended families. You can either share them just as is, or you can have them mounted or matted. However you get them, they are a classic way of sharing your family’s memories with others.

There are so many ways to enjoy your family photographs beyond looking at them on your devices. For more ideas on how you can add your photographs to your home’s decor, I invite you to read this article, “Photography Experts Share Clever Ways to Display Photos in Your Home.” This is an article that I contributed to in collaboration with Redfin.

However you decide to enjoy and display your photographs, I encourage you to get your images off those devices!
